A new start? Watchtower renaming at HQ Columbia Heights
by Gorbatchov infriends,.
who was in any doubt that our jw believe is a marketing model, see this pictures of the still existing hq of jw at columbia heights.. earlier comments on jwn that something is going to change in the organisation, these comments are true.. in a few years we will not talk about the watchtower society, we wil talk about jw.org.
i think the current leadership will make a transfer to a new start.

I realize this won't be popular, but I enjoy reading the thoughts of a true servant of Jehovah's organization. I appreciate your input, SFPW.
My only gripe with you, is your refusal to answer questions. I have so many, and no honest JW will acknowledge or respond from the bible.
The reinvention of the WTS will be a great move for the society. We will see more JW's online, and they can begin preaching to every corner of the World Wide Web! Marvelous idea.
More JW's surfing the Internet on their iPads... I think it is brilliant! They can dispense spiritual food to the deserving sheep, keep their documents up to date, and correct any errors, seamlessly. think of the trees (and lives) that will be saved!

Planting Seeds--Plants Do Not Grow Overnight
by blondie ini see some post here that want family and friends to see ttatt immediately.. i'm a gardener, a serious one.
we make sure we put in an area that gets sun, check the soil each year, put in compost and other amendments, make sure we plant seeds compatible with the ones next to them, plant far enough apart, proper amount of water.
everything can be perfect but when i go out the day after planting...nothing has broken through yet.

I get impatient with people who refuse to think for themselves. I can't help it. I am a know-it-all, so you should really just listen to me!
(That is what I am thinking, when I speak to my JW robot family members)
It is particularly frustrating, because my husband and I discovered TTATT, before we jumped into the pool. We investigated it carefully, listened to our teachers and studied the publications, even attended meetings regularly for over a year. It honestly did not take a lot of evidence to knock down their house of cards for us, once we started looking directly at the WTS itself.
We asked our teacher our questions, and he crossed his arms and refused to answer or acknowledge them. He revealed HIMSELF that day. He was lying, and we knew it. The evidence he brought back the next week, was a typewritten transcript of an article from pre-1975. Bogus. We awoke with a start. I was bawling afather he left. How could they Deny facts? Realizing that our "friends" were not actually motivated by love, but fear of the org itself, It hit me so suddenly. We immediately stopped attending meetings. We knew we were lying to our "friends" by showing up and making our babies be quiet during their fear-inducing indoctrination sessions.
Sadly, they did succeed in training us in many ways. We did not want to "stumble" anyone's progress in their faith! It took me a few years to recover from the lies, before I realized the true NATURE of this organization. By then, it was too late. My supposedly thinking parents, the very ones who raised me to think for myself, had submitted themselves to serving the Borg and chasing that carrot. (Thank you, Blondie! You have your finger right on the pulse of this issue).
While I was free from the control that had taken over our lives, my family was being told how evil I was. I was now a servant of satan. Since I wasn't listening, I didn't realize the lies that they were being fed about me and my innocent children. While we were licking our wounds, they were building walls around my extended family.
This healing process is taking much longer for me than I expected. It really is still shocking to see how far away the minds of my parents now reside. The twisted things that come out of the mouth of my father... Unbelievable. He actually believes these absurdities. They have chosen a new family, and they need to stay inside the narrow lines, or it all crumbles. Hopefully someday they will wake up, but I don't know what it will take.
Good thread... Many of us are impatiently waiting for loved ones to hear the sirens that are going off. How can they NOT see this new light?? It is a beacon. A spotlight. A searchlight. Come to the light, people! The Borg is being exposed, and it's true nature is shining so brightly for everyone to see. Open your eyes. Escape!

We used to attend a congregation that had frequent visitors, who were "on vacation." My parents enjoy going to meetings when they travel. It reassures them that they have brothers and sisters, everywhere they go. I think my dad loves the attention.

They need to give those deserving ones a chance to become JW's before armagedddon destroys us all.

John 3:16 - "believe" or "exercise faith?" Same thing?
by Faithful Witness ini recently asked my jw mother, if she believed that jesus died for her sins.
(john 3:16).
she agreed, but then added the jw party line, "you have to exercise faith also.

I recently asked my JW mother, if she believed that Jesus died for her sins. I suggested that believing in the sacrifice of Christ, was enough to atone for her sins and grant her eternal life. (John 3:16)
She agreed, but then added the JW party line, "You have to EXERCISE FAITH also."
I asked her what this meant. Further questions yielded no answers, except that you have to "live in a way that is pleasing to Jehovah, even when you're not out in service or with fellow JW's." She went on to admit some of her own sins, and how she wants to improve her ways in her daily life.
Where do they get this "exercise faith" idea, and what does it mean? I am looking at the Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures, and John 3:16 actuallly says:
16Οὕτως Thus γὰρ for ἠγάπησεν loved ὁ the θεὸς God τὸν the κόσμον world ὥστεas- and τὸν the υἱὸν Son τὸν the μονογενῆ only-begotten ἔδωκεν, he gave, ἵνα in order that πᾶς everyone ὁ the πιστεύων believing εἰς into αὐτὸν him μὴ not ἀπόληται might be destroyed ἀλλὰ but ἔχῃ may have ζωὴν life αἰώνιον. everlasting.

SFPW:
I am continually fascinated by the fact that you keep posting here. I wonder if you would respond to this Bible question I have about the preaching work.
Can you help me figure out this Bible question?
I am studying the book of Matthew, and trying to learn who Jesus really is, and what he came here to tell us about his Father.
I think you said you believe that Jesus was the Great Teacher. Did he tell us how to serve Jehovah God the Father?
In Matthew 6:1-6, during the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says:
6 “Take care not to practice your righteousness in front of men to be noticed by them; otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens. 2 So when you make gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 3 But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your gifts of mercy may be in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. 5 “Also, when you pray, do not act like the hypocrites, for they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the main streets to be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you."
Where does Jesus instruct you to record and report all your preaching efforts? I read this passage, and it sounded to me like he was actually telling them NOT to report their efforts. When you obediently fill out your time card and turn it into the organization, you receive your "rewards" from men.
Your Heavenly Father will not reward you for any of those hours you are reporting. Jehovah's organization will add them to the tally of hours in the yearbook, but the reward ends there. You are serving men, and they publish a book each year to prove it.
Can you explain this to me? Where in the Bible, are we instructed to keep track of our efforts? I hope you will answer my sincere question.
I like the fact that you post here. I can not find an honest JW to answer my questions.

Very interesting!
We ran into some car trouble in May, and used it as an excuse to interrupt our attendance at the Baptist church we'd been part of for almost 3 years. We had already been talking about leaving, so it was the natural progression of things for our family. During that time, we visited and subsequently moved to another church, just down the street from our house.
I see people from our old church often, when I am out in public. They do not shun me or pretend they don't see me. They might have some hurt feelings or misunderstanding about our leaving, but they are happy to stop and talk with me. I have not been ex-communicated or marked. I even spoke to a board member from the church just yesterday. They were "curious" why so many people were leaving, and had already assumed it was just the car trouble. I didn't add any information, since they didn't actually ask.
This is not true of the people from the KH we attended. Even though we were not baptized, the "friends" who loved us so much, see right through me. They will actually respond if I speak to them first, but I literally have to make big gestures to get their attention. I can't tell if they just go through life with blinders on, or if they are intentionally avoiding making eye contact. I don't take it personally, but I do find it amusing. I have nothing but compassion and love for the JW's, and will always treat them with kindness and respect. Too bad they are not trained to do the same in return.
It is amusing sometimes, to see how wide their eyes will get... I invited a friend over for dinner "sometime," and she lost all color in her face. That reaction has me wanting to pursue the relationship a little bit more, to see if she will refuse us, or accept a free meal. They gladly accepted the gourmet fruit and treat basket we sent, when her mother died after refusing blood. I feel so sorry for their little girl.
